Having recently acquired my fw16e and Motif XF8, I am learning things as I go. I have been able to record (CUBASE Ai5) and playback both Audio and MIDI through the fw16e. One thing I noticed was that the levels are very low (seem about 10% of the maximum). Specifically, I am referring to the Waveform in CUBASE. This can be a big problem if there is noise in the signal, but my signal is flawless (my favorite feature of the fw16e). So I can crank up the level without any noise (or even normalize the .WAV). So there is no real issue here, I was just wondering is this normal. I’d prefer to have a better level (just seems wrong to be so low). I did find some settings in [UTILITIES] on the Motif. I cranked my db from 0 to +6db, but I did not notice any change. Is there a way to adjust the fw16e output, or CUBASE gain on the track to get a higher level (larger waveform)?
Thanks,

Don’t infer anything from the size of the graphic wave. Rely on the meters. See the following threads, esp. Bad_Mister‘s comments in them:

Hope that helps. |
