I know that M-Powered 8 needs a M-Audio interface to operate but do you know if it works with anything else like the firewire audio interface on the Motif XS8. I like the capabilities and the variety of plugins that come with the low price.

m audio just allow mackie to interface with PT8. hopefully they will with yamaha. It is possible that mackie will interface with motif

If you install the drivers for the XS, can they be seen in PT?

I can select between various ASIO drivers in Cubase (alas only one at a time) though I am not sure if PT uses ASIO or its own proprietary solution.

PT remains a closed system. There is no indication that it will be anything other than closed. It works with Digidesign interfaces, M-Audio and, as mentioned, Mackie. No one should purchase PT hoping other solutions become available.

And, the only ports visible in Pro Tools will be the MIDI Ports…
