The question is really too generic. What you are actually asking is how to set up your studio. The gear list is pretty straightforward, so it’s really just a question of connecting it such that you are getting sound from the Motif into the computer and recording it. As you have multiple sound sources it probably makes sense to connect the synths to the mixer and then connect the mixer to the soundcard inputs for recording. If you have an XS8, or an XS6/7 with the mLAN card installed then it makes sense to use mLAN for recording the XS rather than going through the mixer. Df. |

I was thinking of getting the mLAN card but someone mentioned at a forum that Yamaha stop making mLAN drivers for snow leopard. Don’t know how true that is but I plan to upgrade my mac and don’t want to be stuck with a $250 price tag if you know what mean. Thanks for you input Dreamflight. |

The mLAN16E2 is fully supported by Snow Leopard and by Windows 7 If you owned an original mLAN16E (Motif ES, 2003 and S90 ES, 2005) they are no longer supported under Snow Leopard and WIndows 7. But the Motif XS and mLAN16E2 are fully supported!!! |

Is the mLAN16E2 stable. I am running a mac G5 1.8GHz 3.5gigs ram and OS X 10.5.8. Plan on getting a new mac dual quad sometime this year. If I get the mLAN card am I able to use it now on my current mac and then use it on the new computer when I do get it? Are they going to support the mLAN for a little while or stop at snow leopard? Thank! |

I’m using mLAN on a 2009 8-core Mac Pro running Snow Leopard with no problems. The sound quality is pristine. Df. |

Absolutely use get an mLan card...If you use Cubase, you will have great integration. Its works well on other DAW SW programs as well. (Oh and get the Yamaha MSP7 Monitors if you can find them) |
