Yes Keyboard B.O.A.T not to be confused with Keyboard G.O.A.T

G.O.A.T = Greatest Of All Time
B.O.A.T = Beast of All Time

In order to qualify for the top 50 Keyboard BOATs a keyboard player has to

Play with Unbridled Ferocity
Have Phenomenal Speed
Have Phenomenal Dexterity
Play with Predatory Attitude
Be A Keyboard Virtuoso
Be Fearless

Some examples of A Keyboard BOAT are:

H.  Zett, Hazel Scott, Jordan Rudess, Hiromi Uehara, Yuja Wang

I have some Keyboard Players That I think should be in the top 50. These keyboard players are absolute Beasts! They are absolutely fearless and have some of the most ferocious keyboard playing ever heard.  Whenever they enter the room any wise keyboard player would bend the knee and make room LOL.

H.  Zett
Hiromi Uehara
Jordan Rudess
Christian Sands
McCoy Tyner
James Llyod
Yuja Wang
Hazel Sott
Ark Sano
Oscar Peterson
Rodriguez Alfredo
Liberace
Jade Simmons
Herbie Hancock
Billy Preston
Chic Corea
Joey Defrancesco
Wole Oni

This list is not complete and its not ranked.  I’m hoping the folks on Motifator can help me finish filling in the list of 50 Keyboard BOATS, and ranking these Beasts LOL

I’m not a particularly good keyboard player myself, so not able to judge other better players, but two of my own favourites that are not mentioned often enough in these types of lists are:
Mustiis a.k.a. Øyvind Johan Mustaparta

and
Dave Greenfield

Yes!  Johan Mustaparta definitely sounds like BOAT material,

But this link for Dave Greenfield I’m not sure this link has Dave Greenfield in it.

I found a Dave Greenfield on Youtube, not sure if this is the guy you meant.

It’s definitely Dave playing in the video I posted, even though he wasn’t in the band when the song was written and the composing (and recording on early demos) was done by the original keyboard player.

As I said above, I’m not anywhere good enough to be able to judge the skill level of professional players. To me, Dave is important because at the time I was only interested in ‘heavy rock and guitars’ and he’s the main reason why I started to also appreciate synths and keyboards. Of course, there were others before him, Ray Manzarek etc., but in my case, Dave opened the door!
All those quick arpeggios that keeps coming back in a lot of The Stranglers songs just happens to tickle my fancy, I guess. :-)
