I seem to remember that the largest size USB stick you can use on an ES is 2 MB. Is that correct? if so...why?

ALSO...what happened to being able to print a single post from a thread???

‘accept’ is the wrong word.
FAT16 only stores 2Gb of data.
FAT32 stores up to 64Tb, but the ES ‘knows’ only FAT16.

Indeed: ES.
Some earlier discussions on this topic made me do some tests:

Any USB stick comes factory formatted FAT16 (max 2Gb) or FAT32 (max 64Tb).
My ES rejects any FAT32 filesystem, so ...............

my ES recognize 4GB pendrive

connect any 4 gb flash disk with usb 1.1 (or 2.0 & compatible 1.1, like kingston dt110)
go to MS-DOS on your Windows
type:
format (letter of pendrive) /FS:FAT
ms-dos ask you if “format possible claster 64kb”
type “YES”
now, you’ve got a pen drive 4GB with <65k claster's size 64kb
this is full recognize and operate with any Motif ES

greetz
endulec.pl <- check this

Thanks ;JOOP. Now I know that ES only identifies FAT16. I really thought that it would identify fat32 before but I was wrong. Thanks for lighting up my mind.

And, of course all of you dream of an XF, no Motif will accept NTFS.
Unfortunately it is possible to format a USB stick to NTFS.
MSWindows does it reluctantly.
Normally it chooses FAT32 for removable devices.
