I have a FC7 pedal plugged into the Foot Controller 2 jack in the back of my XS8. When working on the Controller Set Assignment page under Common Edit in Voice mode, if I set any of the control sets to use FootCtrl(11) as the Source, the destination parameter instantly jumps to full throttle, and moving the pedal has no effect. If I plug the pedal into the Foot Controller 1 jack, it functions properly adjusting the Expression parameter. Having the pedal unplugged also does not change the behavior described above. Any ideas about what’s going on? |

You have not provided enough information. But if we go with what you have provided:
Foot Controller 1 defaults to Expression cc011 - this is a dedicated (fixed) function that is always going to be a controller for relative volume (called, musical expression). Foot Controller 2 defaults to Foot Control cc004 - this is a programmable function controller device - it can be almost anything you want it to be. You can select any of 100 Destinations for this particular device, it can do anything from controlling INSERT EFFECT parameters, to Reverb Send amount, to FEG Depth, to Element Volumes, to LFO Speed, etc., etc., etc. Please see the following article for a deeper understanding: Motif XS: Working with and Understanding Physical Controllers |
