Dave Greenfield: The Stranglers keyboard player dies at 71

I usually don’t post things like this, but this one got to me…

Agreed, I was upset by this news too. I was already into keyboards when Rattus Norvegicus was released (I was 16 at the time) but I was at the right age for the Stranglers and bought every album for the next few years that they made. Dave will always be known to me as the king of arpeggios :-) RIP Dave.

To cap it off, around about the same time, Florian Schneider-Esleben from Kraftwerk also passed away. I remember watching an episode of Tomorrow’s World in 1975 and they had Kraftwerk on. That was the thing that made me get an interest in synths. I already liked organ music at the time but when I saw them it was a wow moment. I never thought at the time that I’d be able to afford a synth (or six!!) of my own :-)
