Hello all! I’ve been watching videos and reading articles all afternoon to try and figure out if what I want to do is possible. Maybe some of you experts can help!

I have the MOXF with the flash card installed. I’m trying to find a good Celesta sound and am not happy with the GM sound installed on the keyboard. I have a few good virtual instruments and plain WAV files that I think sound better. Can I use these WAV files to “create” an instrument on the MOXF?

The WAV files require no complex looping (it’s a Celesta) so they’re almost all “1 shot” files. I can have a separate WAV file for each pitch (C, C#, D, D#, etc) to assign to each individual key, but also am fine with sampling the instrument every third (C, Eb, Gb, etc) like is common with VSTs on the computer.

How on earth do I accomplish this? I watched on video where the guy used the John Melas Waveform Editor to create an xw3 file, but I don’t want to spend 60 Euro to do this. Any ideas? Thanks! :D

The WAV files can be imported to the flash module. If they’re truly “one shot”, then they’re similar to percussion instruments typically used in drum kits. Therefore, once on the flash module, the WAV samples can be assigned to keys in a User Drum Voice. Each key can be individually edited to help balance certain irregularities from sample to sample as necessary.

Your MOXF is a synthesizer!

If you don’t like the stock celeste you can create your own Celeste sound from scratch or you can modify the GM celeste sound by:

adding insert effects, or system effects, or modify cutoff, or resonance, or change the parts of the celeste sound at the element level.  A celeste sound could be created from scratch on your MOXF, but as beginner the easiest approach is to take one of MOXF’s stock celeste sounds and just modify it until your happy....

If you don’t know how to modify sounds on the MOXF I suggest:

http://shop.motifator.com/index.php/sound-advice-dvd.html

Its a 3 DVD set.  Its very good.  And it will show you the basics of creating and modifying sounds on your synth

By the way, Inspiration in a Flash has a Celesta Voice at User2-118/H06. It’s from DCP Productions’ “Complete Orchestra” (abbreviated C.O. in PDF linked below).

See http://www.motifator.com/index.php?ACT=39&fid=165&aid=15294_UBW9DDgm2gAqvwBhTSMh&board_id=1

If you don’t already have IiaF, the MOXF version is here:
https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/2/312702/MOXF_Inspiration_In_A_Flash.zip

If that doesn’t meet the desired qualities, see above posts.
