Hi, the grand piano etc on the MOXF8 sounds like crap when using my Lucas Nano 300 PA which I purchased to use as monitors as well as for performing live.

Any experience with those PA’s or idea as to why that crappy sound. THe same grand piano on the “DGX 660 portable Grand” Digital piano, sounds great from its built in speakers of only 2x 6W. Clean great authentic sound. I thought the sound would be similar on the MOXF8 but at least using the LUCAs Nano 300 with around 230-260 W it sounds like coming from a tin can.

ANy suggestions as to how to produce a tolerable quality sound. I had 6 yamaha pianos so far, the first ones being digital, so this is a synth. But would that make such a huge compromise regarding the quality of the acoustic pianos etc?

Also I like it to be held on poles / a rack like the Lucas Nano is.

Yamaha tends to put decent piano samples in their dedicated digital pianos. However, the Motif/MO pianos are reasonably good, and they can be EQed and other Parameters adjusted if desired.

Do you have the Lucas Nano satellites separated a reasonable distance? If placed near each other, you’ll get the phase cancellations that mono causes.

Since you like the sound from the DGX-660, I suggest that you connect the output of the MOXF to the AUX IN of the DGX-660, and see how it sounds that way. Since the DGX-660 AUX IN is a 3.5 mm stereo jack, you’d need a cable with a 3.5 mm (1/8") TRS plug at one end, and two 6.35 mm (1/4") TS plugs at the other end to connect to the MOXF.

If the MOXF piano(s) sound good that way, then your monitors probably leave something to be desired. (Sound-On-Sound limited its praise https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/hk-audiolucas-nano-300) If the MOXF still isn’t satisfactory, then you could edit the sound or load other sample libraries if you have a flash module installed.

Thank you ☺️, sounds like a good idea. Well the two satelites are around 2 meters apart. Anyway the Lucas is also built with the option to place both satelites on top of each other, but well then I guess it must be mono right.
Actually when I ding thorugh the PA it sounds authentic. Not distorted I think, but of course I mostly have some backing music turned on.
