I still cant get my head around it: I want my Akai MPC 20000 to record with my Motif xs7. How do I assign the midichannels in my Motif to play the info on the tracks in the MPC. Eg. track 1 with midichannel 5 assigned has to play a piano on the Motif. This piano must have midichannel 5 as receivechannel on the. Motif. How do I assign this in the Motif? I hope my question is understood. Thanks!

The XS should be in Song or Pattern mode. The Voices you want should be assigned to Parts in a Song/Pattern Mixing. You can set the Receive Channel for each Part, if necessary.

See the Mixing Part Edit information on page 235 of the XS Owner’s Manual.
