I recently bought a Motif ES6 from someone who had moved here from Japan. It runs on 100V and wish to use it for Australia 220-240 volt.

I bought a step down transformer and it works fine here in Australia. But I’d like to be able to modify the unit so that it doesn’t need the transformer to run under Australian voltage.

My electrical tech who works on my keyboards and amps says that it may be able to run 100 volt or 240 volt, if not it may be internally switchable.

Does anyone know? I don’t want to try it out and ruin this fantastic instrument.

The ES keyboard models had two possible Power Supply Units…
Part No.     Application
V3612600 Japan/USA 100~120V.
V3612700 Europe/others 220~240V.

Your choice is to either continue using the step-down transformer or replace the internal PS.

I’m not about to try it either way, just curious. I will either source a 220-240v power supply or go on using the step down trans.

An ES is likely to blow up, then blow the fuse, and then not work.  ;-)

(Some models more recent than the ES have universal power supplies, and will run on a wide range of voltages. Perhaps your tech was thinking of those.)
