I recently bought a Motif Rack XS and I’m about to sell my old Motif Rack ES. However, I think I will miss some of the pads (for example: Homesick, FrozenVox, and Whisperer in Motif ES Rack’s Normal Preset 4 library are just amazing) and synth leads from Motif Rack ES. How can I recreate those voices on Motif Rack XS? Is there any place where I could download Motif ES presets that work with Motif XS? |

You can copy the preset banks using the free Yamaha editors. 1. Open the ES editor 2. Select each preset bank and copy to a user bank 3. When you have filled up the 3 banks, save the editor file. 4. Repeat until you have copied all the banks you want to save. 5. The XS editors can open ES editor files, so open up your new files and copy the voices you want to XS user banks. One problem is arpeggios...the editors only know arp patterns by number and the ES and XS arps are numbered differently. If the arps are important, you need to edit those by hand, voice by voice. If you use the John Melas editors, I believe they do manage the arpeggios for you. Check with John to see if that’s the case. |

Download the ZIP file at the end of this support article:
The XS “All Voice” (X0V) files can be imported into the Rack-XS Editor. You’ll have to decide if the “translation” is close enough for your needs. |
