Hello, hope you can help me.

I don’t have any Yamaha synth at the moment, but in a few days I should get an XF. In the meantime I’m working on samples I’m planning to install into the machine. I purchased Waveform Editor by John Melas and I must say that it is a fantastic tool. Really indispensable.

I’m trying to port a little Korg stereo multisample to Yamaha format. It is pretty basic - only one velocity layer and only 14 samples total. The catch is that 7 samples are for the left channel and 7 for the right channel. This means that I only have 7 uniquely pitched keybanks.

Now, my question is: Should I make 1 waveform with 14 keybanks or 2 waveforms 7 keybanks each?
If I make one waveform with 14 keybanks and pan half of the keybanks to the left and half of the keybanks to the right will each of the keybank pairs sound at once if I set them to respond to the same velocity range? Or is using 2 waveforms (and 2 elements) a better idea?

Many thanks and sorry for such a basic question.
