Hi there,

I own a Motif ES and want to sample a choir voice from the Roland Session board (Sr jv80 series, voice nr 25). It’s the one voice that was the reason to keep the Roland synth ... So sampling this one voice sounds like a good idea.

I have some experience with sampling; it’s not that difficult, as long as you don’t need to ‘loop’ a sample ( it’s naar impossible to avoid a ‘click’ when you don’t use special software to edit samples, just the Motif).

When I hold a key on the Roland board, the choir voice ‘sustains’ (keeps sounding), so I wonder if it is possible to sample some notes, spread ‘em on the keyboard and play the choir sound on my Motif - without having to use the ‘loop’ function and get frustrated there by the ‘click’ sound at the looping points.

I guess one way to avoid looping is to make veeeeeeery long samples, but maybe there is a simple way to make the samples requiered to make the choir voice playable in the Motif (with just short samples....)??

Help would be very much appreciated, so thanks for advise and tips!!
(how much notes should you sample to map across the keyboard, couple of notes per octave?)

Kind regards, Michael

I have the same question about sampling a nice base sound from a mono analog synth: can only recording veeeeery long samples avoid the need of looping and getting into the clicking sound issues?)

You probably want to do crossfade looping…

...so look for some software for your particular computer platform.
