Is it possible or has it been explored that Yamaha could put sample memory into the optional firewire board available for the lovely “Motif Rack XS ???  Just curious - These are the types of things that a computer engineer & artist like myself go to sleep thinking of.  Thank you-

There will be never be an upgrade if that is what you are asking.

I would not expect a new rack unit until after the Motif XF is replaced with a new keyboard.

Even though I’m apt to agree you, I must say… not totally.  However, that would be true, if money didn’t talk and other things didn’t walk.
Do you realize how much money they would make off such a unit.  Virtually, every rack owner would buy it.  Being in the music business a long time like I have been you come to know that everyone doesn’t like the formation and have no need for certain options of the motif keyboard setup.  People like to use a certain keyboard or have the ability to choose from a variety of keyboard setups that’s conducive with the music they like to produce the most.  Such a unit would allow them these choices & options which they don’t presently have.  They would likely buy them in groves also. Many people like the Motif sounds and not the keyboard setups and no one likes limitations.  I took marketing in college also.  Business is about reaching as many people as possible to buy your products and giving them more choices to choose what they like and avoid what they don’t like and convenience is also high on the list. Such a unit with fewer limitations would allow Yamaha to become a piece of everybody’s action. You know, something like the gangsters, but only legal; or simply like Microsoft, their OS takes advantage of everyone else’s programs & computer productions, in short they’re getting richer while others are doing all the work, thus making their competitors work for them; Microsoft is doing this with one single product they made popular, it’s called an “OS.” I would venture to say Yamaha has already made the Motif sound popular; wouldn’t you?  Something new, something different, I believe it’s called a “niche” in the business world.  Who else is doing this with the notoriety & name recognition as huge as Yamaha’s, large enough to carry it through and make it work? New ideas and desirable choices makes money and increase revenue; expand your “well known” product… Mr. Yamaha. 

However, you’re probably right Mr. Meatballfulton, they will likely do as you said; but in this marketer’s opinion it would be their loss.  But then again, who am I? But just a person who got a bunch of degrees, then decided to follow his heart and become an artist and musician; which makes me truly happy.
