The TECH said the HARDWARE checks out OK, so please HELP in how, settings, etc.(by the way Have followed on ALL the settings, etc., explained in the MANUAL already BUT NOTHING activates it & again it is NOT a HARDWARE issue ? (2) Is there a way to CHANGE from one PATTERN to another instantly without a break/GAP/space, etc ? |

Whoa, hold on there Trigger! This is free user-based support community who is not paid at all, much less paid by Yamaha. Your tone is not one likely to get people scrambling for their notes in order to help you - in their own free time and out of the goodness of their hearts. If you wish to call Yamaha, their phone # in the US is 714-522-9950. If you wish to re-submit your question, along with an apology for being so incredibly rude, then maybe someone will offer you some help. PS I’m sorry your original questions did not get replies but a) they are rather vaguely worded (getting your pitch bend ‘to work’ - changing the range setting? In which mode? Is it stuck, not applying any pitch bend at all? etc etc) and b) they relate to a Motif model made over ten years ago so forum activity there is not exactly buzzing. My recommendations: 1. Deep breath. 2. Re-word your questions so people have a better idea what the problem is. 3. Patience. |

Very SORRY your HIGHNESS. Please accept my SINCERE apologies, Thanq.
Here we go: The PITCH BEND WHEEL MOVES, etc. like I mentioned took it to the SHOP for repair, HARDWARE checked out ALL FINE, EXCEPT that no matter how well i follow in making SOFTWARE settings as per the MOTIF ES 6 MANUAL, it does not work, in other words no ascend OR no descend on the note/pitch.

That attitude is sure to get you far.
It’s been my experience that people who have an air of entitlement about them tend to get ignored after a while.

Nevertheless, I’ll reply to the degree the information you provided will allow.
1) We have no way of knowing if the “SHOP” you took it to for repair gave you accurate information.
I suggest that you back up your data to an “All” file, and then do a factory reset. If none of the factory Voices then respond to the Pitch Bend control, your Motif has a hardware problem, no matter what the “SHOP” told you.

“after a factory reset the PB is working, then the problem was with a setting you were unaware of or your programming of Voices, etc”. Appreciate yr response, thanq.
Please advise on setting/programming of Voices, etc., OR where can i find this info ?

On the recorded MIDI data, why is it showing MOD (whereas shud b PB) & Footswitch (whereas shud b MOD) ? The 2nd wheel (mod) does work after a factory reset. The 1st wheel (pb) seems like sliding it upwards kinda sounds like it is doin something but sliding downwards no difference. On my KORG I can clearly get a precise pitch bend with the joystick on my TRINITY. Pls adv, thanq. |

If moving the bend wheel records as mod wheel and the mod wheel as footswitch, you probably have a hardware failure. Off to the shop. Last questions: Did you load any files after the factory reset? Does this happen in all modes? Press [UTILITY] → [F4] CTL ASN → [SF3] FT SW to display the CC for the footswitch (global) Make sure this is not CC#1. |

Just to give you some clarification of ‘normal,’ if, after you have done a factory set, you call up any preset Voice in the Pattern sequencer, then go into record, hold down a note and move the pitch bend wheel fully up and fully down, you should ‘hear’ the voice go up and down one whole note (or two ‘steps’). If you playback the sequence and look at the data, you should see that “PB” as in Pitch Bend information has been recorded. If you go into record again, hold down a note and push the mod wheel up you should ‘hear’ some sort of vibrato or modulation effect. If you playback the sequence and look at the data you should see “ModWheel”, along with various values in the screen. If you don’t see and/or hear these then I think it’s fair to say you have a problem somewhere - maybe hardware, maybe software but the above scenario is what you should experience and any deviation from this is ‘not normal’. Not wishing to be rude but I’m not sure how experienced you might or might not be with regards to MIDI data in general and recording on Motif in particular. If you’re more on the beginning side of things then I think it would help you enormously to do some research/learning about MIDI or recording on Motif so that you can troubleshoot some of these things yourself in the future. Motif is a hugely powerful and fairly complex instrument and half the battle can be knowing what should happen when you do things and learning to recognize a genuine ‘fault’ (quite rare, even on older models) and what we call ‘pilot error’ (extremely common!). Trust me, there’s no one on this forum or anywhere else who has not had plenty of pilot error in their time. So, this is no disgrace; simply a question of learning the product and/or the technology. I hope this helps. |

Thanq MrMOTIF,
Gonna ck out ALL SOFTWARE settings in reference, so that we may rule those pilot errors (if they exist?) & then we’ll know that it needs to go to the DOC for a FIX :)

Had not had a chance to spend time on the MOTIF ES due to a lot of reasons mainly getting the time, so I continued playing my older ones (lot of sequencing, etc on them). NOW !! I remember very well Yeeesss !! my PB wheel/MOD wheel did work bcoz i had one of my tracks recorded where I used the PB. The ONLY thing I can think of now is that the PB stopped working after upgrading the FIRMWARE to 1.08. ?? b4 that all was fine.
Pls adv.

Then try reloading the firmware. Did you actually do a NEW recording as requested above? |

The recording that (when the PB wheel worked) was before, when the FIRMWARE was 1.05. After upgrading it to 1.08 is I realize now that it stopped working.
Then I reloaded the FIRMWARE 1.08 again.....the same. What is the simplest way of reverting back to 1.05 ? If it works we will be ruling out/resolving OR then simply upgrade it back & take it to the SHOP !
So, please advise the easiest way to downgrade to 1.05.
