This is probably another one of my stupid questions, but my cubase programme has suddenly, for no reason I can figure, decided to start playing a high pitched pinking sound when I press the play or stop buttons and a different twanging sound that I can’t really describe when I open the equaliser. I’ve looked all over the software menus and I can’t find anything that relates to turning this feature, if that’s what it is, on or off. Quite why anybody would want noises being introduced, especially when recording, I’ve no idea, but now I’ve got them they are a real nuisance. So does anybody know how I can get rid of these peculiar unwanted sounds? |

What’s your set up? Mac or PC? and which Yamaha? When you say “play or stop” buttons, do you mean the transport controls on screen (with the mouse) or are you remote controlling Cubase with your Yamaha keyboard and those are the play and stop buttons on the Yamaha itself? There are certain situations on a Mac (when caps lock is down) the QWERTY keyboard becomes a musical keyboard for people without any kind of input device. So if that does apply to Cubase, it could be that. Hard to even guess until you tell us how you are set up. Cheers. |

I agree with philwood. Check your MIDI routings very carefully. The Mackie Control protocol (what Remote Mode uses with Cubase) actually sends note messages! Unless you are also using softsynths inside Cubase, it’s the Motif itself being triggered. Look for a MIDI feedback loop. |
