Hi,

When I go to export a simple two track recording - backing from the Motif and voice from me - I get the message ‘Not enough space on disc available for export.’ This happens regardless of the file extension type or the length of the piece to be exported - even 10 seconds let alone the full five minutes won’t export.

I’ve tried cutting and pasting the two tracks to be recorded into a completely new project to cut down file size, but this makes no difference. What’s going on? The PC has 918 G/bts of space and only 111 G/bts used so overall space isn’t a problem. Are there some parameters in the cubase files that I need to change or am I being completely stupid by not ticking a box somewhere in the menus?

Hi DaveG38,

Although I am unable to offer much help with your problem, it’s probably worth adding that 5 minutes of two-track (stereo) 24 bit / 44.1 kHz audio runs at about 76MB and a 16 bit version of the same would run at about 56MB, so you really shouldn’t have any problems.

My only other thought was your left and right locators.

The left one should be at the start of what you want to export and the right one at the end of it.

Could it be that they are not positioned correctly and the software thinks you are keen on exporting hours of blank space? (as far as something else further down the time line)

Thanks philwoodmusic. You are on the right lines. I haven’t used the Cubase software for a while so when I went to use the track markers I had them swapped over so that the defined area was red not blue and that obviously upset the software so that it didn’t know what to do. Having swapped the markers over all went well first time. Phew. Thanks for the pointer, which helped a good deal.
