I finally got a entire Song recorded on the MOXF Sequencer.

The Song has (4) Tracks.

Please walk me through, from the LPX side, how to transfer all four tracks:
1) As audio tracks to my DAW.
2) As MIDI Tracks to my DAW.

Next, how do I transfer each of the tracks in this scenario:

1) Track one (drums) to trigger Addictive Drums.
2) Track two (bass guitar) to trigger Trilian Bass.
3) Track three (guitar) as audio of the MOXF Guitar Voice.
4) Track four (ep) as audio of the MOXF EP Voice.

Hi Jerry,

There is a way to record the MIDI for your drums and bass directly via USB into Logic from your MOXF, but to cut your time down and prevent you having to learn even more techy stuff this week, I would consider saving a Standard MDI File of your SONG to a USB thumb drive.

Then, pop that USB thumb drive into your Mac, set Logic up with two new Instrument tracks (not External MIDI tracks)

Put an instance of Trillian on one and an instance of Addictive Drums on the other.

Set the tempo and time signature in Logic to match your music in the MOXF.

Import your MIDI file using the File > Import MIDI function and Logic will create an external MIDI track with your song data on it alongside your other tracks.

Copy that data to BOTH instrument tracks...then delete the track Logic created when you imported your MIDI file.

Open the piano roll editor on the first instrument track and remove everything but the bass notes.

Open the piano roll editor on the second instrument track and remove everything but the drum notes

Note that depending on which bass you use on Trillian, you may find you have to shift your notes up or down an octave to get it to sound right, depending on how their bass has been sampled and laid out.

The Addictive drums drum kit map might not exactly match the drum map of the kit you used on your MOXF and as a result some of your notes may need a little bit of moving around.

You could also experiment with making a MIDI file of just your Bass part and another of just your Drum part first, that way you won’t have to remove data to separate it.

I haven’t ever tried that and I would guess it would either mean temporarily muting or even deleting tracks in your SONG that you do not want in each MIDI file before you save.

You can do that, go on dive in.

Then that’s your MIDI taken care of with your favourite Bass and Drum plugins playing it.

Trillian sounds super, I know I use it myself.

When you said to set up LPX with two new Instrument Tracks I take it you mean Software Instrument Tracks.

Question: You say to open the piano roll editor on the first instrument track and remove everything but the bass notes. Do you actually mean to remove everything but the Drum Notes, as the first Track will be the Drums.

Question: Will the MIDI of the Guitar and Bass be transferred as well, which means I will have to delete them as well on the first two Tracks?

What you described will take care of the first two Software Tracks (Drums and Bass).

Question: How do I transfer/record the two Audio Tracks (Guitar and EP) to Tracks (3) and (4)?

It worked perfect (thanks to all you guys)!!!!!!

The Song had four Tracks (Drums, Bass, Pad and Piano.).

And luckily, somehow when I imported the MIDI File, the Piano Track plays perfectly as well.

As far as the Pad Track, it shows data on the Track but it’s almost like the Pad is playing the Bass line, which obviously is not right.

How did the Piano import correctly but not the Pad Track?

On exporting your MIDI file, all your tracks get lumped together in one system, so the piano part will sound right if it was imported to a piano track at all, which is highly likely.

Because you want to use software instruments, you need to separate your data out which usually means copying the whole lump of data to each track and then removing notes to reveal only what you need on each track.

For example, to get the bass right, import/copy the MIDI file to your Trillian track and delete every note other than the notes you expect the bass to be playing.

Do the same for the others.

Your bass part will be playing on any track you put the unedited MIDI data on and not just its own.

So there is a chance that the bass is being played on your pad track. 

Delete what you don’t need on each.

How do I record the audio of the Pad and Piano (Tracks three and four) in my Song to LPX (which I’m sure I’ll have to create (2) Audio Tracks on)?
