I was wondering if anybody can comment on the combination of MOXF8 and Behringer: TRUTH B1031A studio monitor speakers http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/B1031A.aspx . These speakers can be had for $400 a pair. I have no way of testing this setup in shops. These speakers are apparently excellent studio monitors for the price, but I am not sure if my MOXF8 will sound good on there speakers. I am planing to use them only at home for playing music and also for mixing in Cubase. I am kn a budget and at this stage cannot go for high end monitors.
Have you got any other suggestion?

Unless you have the time and patience to be totally scientific about it, choosing monitors for a home/studio environment is going to be more about reputation, recommendations, and then making sure you place them correctly in the room.

So, to be honest any decent set of studio monitors is going to be fine with your MOXF8. The only possible thing to consider is if, since you have an 88 note keyboard, you are especially fond of low end acoustic piano. If you are, then will always need to go a little ‘bigger’ than if you’re not.

Have you considered the Yamaha HS50s (or HS80s)? Since they’re made by Yamaha you can rest assured they’ll sound good with your instrument.

We carry these in the shop here on Motifator.com if you’re interested in supporting the site. I believe the price is the same as you’ll pay anywhere.

Thank you for your prompt response. These Behringer TRUTH B1031A speakers are 8 inch speakers and hopefully can provide adequate range at the low end. Your prices for Yamaha speakers are really good comparing to what is available here in Australia. Shipping them here would be quite expensive. YOu don’t appear to have that option anyway.
I just hope these Behringer speakers will be a good match for MOXF8.

These speaker are total crap. Just saying because I own a pair, they have quality issues and 2 major design flaws:
1-Awful amps, that easily get busted.
2-Terrible frame to hold parts. One of twitters is a bit lose in its place and makes a noise (like a zing) when playing specific frequency ranges.
I’d rather buy a rokit, better design and quality IMHO.

I own the Behringer Truth B2031 A. They sound very good with my MOX-6 and with most of my equipment. After 9 years of pro use i have no issues! I would prefer the Yamahas for obvious reasons. But if the price of the Behringers are much lower then go for it!
