I bought the FL1024M card for my moxf, but after perusing the shop, it would seem most libraries do not need it - so what good is it really, when there is no sampler on the moxf?

I think I will sell it - doesn’t seem to be any point in having it!

And I did try the I.I.A.F. libraries, and I would not use about 85% of it, and apart from that sound library, not much else needs it it would seem!

Check out the libraries at Easysounds that come with new samples.

You will be able to install the various third party libraries. (Like the ones at http://shop.motifator.com/index.php/voice-libraries/motif-xf.html )

Also, you can use your computer as a sampler or sample generator, and use software to convert those sampled instruments into something you can install on that board and then play from your MOXF.

Any ideas of what software? Oh and I already checked the libraries at Motifator - most say they do not need the expansion card ( as I already wrote in the OP :) )

Thanks for the link - didn’t see that in the Motifator shop.

Any ideas of what software?

For getting sampled sounds from your computer into your Yamaha, John Melas’ Waveform Editor, and I think Chicken Systems’ Motif Creator.

For generating samples using your computer, you could capture sounds from “the real world” or from VST instruments. There are a number of programs for these things. SampleRobot and Extreme Sample Converter come to mind. Chicken Systems may have some other programs that could help here too.

Maybe you didn’t check the same list I linked to… but at least 20 of those 31 XF libraries require the expansion card.

Thx for the tips re software - I will look into all of them.

re the shop: I SHOULD have said “of the libraries that I am interested in - very few need the expansion card” sorry!
