Has anyone worked out how to create multiple splits using key note ranges across 16 parts?

Apparently it is possible but i cant find any info on this and even when using the software, its not obvious. All I can see is either split or layer.

Having owned a mx61 for the day, i have to say, for the price i am very happy with it.

I think it does sound very motif-like across most sounds other than the pianos, which to my ears are nowhere near as realistic or full. But would you buy an MX for serious piano playing? Probably not.

Here’s how its done.
When you open the VycroMX Editor, you have a series of buttons under the main blue screen - click on the one labeled MIDI

Here you can set the MIDI Receive channel of each PART to Channel 1, for example. Sorry about the size of the screenshot, the site is undergoing a major overhaul while we speak… It shows all PARTS set to MIDI CHANNEL 1… (you can set PARTS to any MIDI channel, as you desire).

Then by going to NOTE RANGE you can set the NOTE Ranges of the various PARTS as you require…

When you have completed your Editing you can press [STORE] on the MX and STORE your PERFORMANCE to any of the 128 PERFORMANCE locations… or simply keep this by clicking “COLLECT”

OK...I worked out how to create these multiple splits thanks to the screen supplied above.

Wow...that makes this a very powerful little synth - i am really impressed.

The control you have over each part via the editing software is fantastic....although a bit fiddly because turing small pots with a mouse pointer can be a bit hit and miss....

Not sure why Yamaha dont make a bigger deal out of this feature? The idea that you can have either a spilt or layered sound is very old technology ( the Jupiter 8 offered it in the early 80s!!) but what this keyboard is actually capable of is amazing for the price and WEIGHT ! :)

what i mean is that it can be hard getting precise adjustments one parameters when using a computer mouse to turn virtual dials.

You don’t so much “turn” the virtual knobs as you click on it and drag north or south, or east/ west.

Alternate method would be to use the MX knob to set the value, then click the “GET” button in the EDITOR up capture the value you set.

Either way you want to resist the urge to try to draw circles with your mouse!
