Viewing topic "PLG100-XG will not save MIDI channel settings in Performance mode"

Hi, I use my Motif rack for gigs several times a week. I have the PLG100-XG installed for extra polyphony and just in case I ever need the extra 16 midi channels (for a total of 32). (I also have the PLG -150 PF installed. I only really use the boards for extra polyphony.)

Here is my problem, every time set up in performance mode (from power up), I must go to channel 17 and change the MIDI from channel 1 to off (or any other channel than 1). Otherwise, I will get a double piano sound since the internal layers that I use (piano, pad, strings, EP) are on the first four internal tracks (not plug in board) using MIDI channel 1.

I have saved my settings so many times, but it does not matter. The plug in board does not seem to save information, meaning that it automatically boots tracks 17-32 as MIDI channels 1-16 and since I’m already using channel 1 for my layers, I would like it to save my setting and default turn off track 17 (MIDI channel 1 on the plug in board).

Can anyone help. I could save a few minutes every week if I could bypass this step…

Thanks, Ash

As per GM and XG protocols setup is not memorized. The setup is configured in each composition.

What can be memorized is how your Motif-Rack addresses your PLG boards. Unless you want to always have the PLG100XG layered, and if we understand you DON’T want it layered, the solution is to STORE the PLG100-XG on a separate MIDI port. This way it’s 16 MIDI channels are completely discreet from the internal Motif-Rack

Press [UTILITY]
PAGE [>] right until you reach PLG1Sys or PLG2Sys ... Sorry it’s been years since I’ve done this.. I remember the XG board must be used in one or the other can’t remember which, but select the one that contains the PLG100-XG

Set the PORT No. = Port 2 or 3

This will allow you to address the PLG100-XG on its discreet USB-MIDI Port and will keep it from sounding when you are playing the internal Parts which are fixed on PORT 1

Press SHIFT + STORE (Utility) to write this into your unit’s Flash ROM

When you power on the XG board will not layer with the internal Multi.

Thank you so much! Wow. It worked and I seem to still have my polyphony from the plug in board. By the way it was slot 2 for the PLG100XG since you can’t put it in slot 1. You’re the best!
