Hi i recently bought an Yamaha MX49 with Cubase 6 . I tried to record the Midi directly from my MX49 to Cubase (Installed MX49 voicelist in cubase)and everything worked fine and i can able to hear the sound back through my MX49 output headphones . Then i created an audio track and tried to record the midi as audio as provided in the yamaha manual , but nothing has been recorded . Looks like the audio track is not recognizing the midi . Kindly provide me a solution for this as am so tired of trying this for more than a week. Thanks in advance!

We are not exactly sure - what routing scenario you wish to use. You can either route the AUDIO RETURN from the MX directly to an AUDIO TRACK using the “VST CONNECTIONS > INPUT tab” or you can opt, since you have a full version of Cubase to use the MX as an EXTERNAL INSTRUMENT (which in affect, makes it a VSTi-type routing situation). The EXTERNAL INSTRUMENT setup, when setup allows you to easily process audio returning from your MX with VST Effects that you may wish to use inside Cubase, before committing the data to an actual AUDIO Track.

We will be posting some more in depth articles on the routing of audio. But if you have MIDI tracks in Cubase you can simply route them to the MX and have the MX return audio to an audio track.

Go to DEVICES > VST CONNECTIONS > INPUTS tab
Here you need to create a Stereo Input set to receive audio from the MX

As shown in the screen shot below.
Set the AUDIO DEVICE = Yamaha MX49/MX61
Set the DEVICE PORT = Yamaha MX49/MX61-1 and Yamaha MX49/MX61-2

Then create a Stereo AUDIO TRACK set to receive input from the connection you created.

The EXTERNAL INSTRUMENTs setup is a bit more involved but does offer the owner of the full version of Cubase a few more options.

We will be posting an article on this type of routing in the coming week or so… Look for the MX ARTICLE section to go live, shortly.

Hi first of all thanks for the quick reply . I tried to go to the VST connections and am not seeing the option to add my Yamaha MX in that . Am i missing any connections or hardware routing here ?

I have a USB cable connected to my PC and my Yamaha MX49
[ to Host]. And i am using a headphones connected to the MX49 to hear the playback .

I can hear the Midi what i recorded using my MX , but i am not finding a way to convert it in to an Playable format like mp3 or wav. Please help me on this . I have attached screen shots for your reference !
