Hello, please can someone help me?

I have a Motif XS Rackmount, and I simply wish to play different voices on midi channels 1>16. Right now, I can only hear whatever voice I choose on Channel 1.

If possible, can you give me an idiots step by step direction on how to do this.

For instance, I want piano on CH. 1 and organ on Ch. 2, and a bass, on CH. 3. etc.

I’m using both Pro Tools 10, and MOTU’s Digital Performer V.7 with a Mac Pro 8 core. I use a MOTU Midi Timepiece for my other synths.

If any other info is needed on my system, please let me know.

Thank you for any help give. H,L, and C, Shawn

There are two main MODES on the Motif-Rack XS:
VOICE mode (plays one sound at a time) and MULTI mode (recalls 16 VOICES - one on each MIDI channel).

If you want to use the Motif-Rack XS as a multi-timbral tone generator, simply press the [MULTI] button.

You can initialize a MULTI for programming use as follows:

While in MULTI mode press and hold these two buttons: [MULTI] + [ENTER] - this will create an “Initialize Multi” with 16 separate PARTS - all will have pianos assigned but you can change this to any sounds you want.

Press [EDIT]
You will arrive on a screen where you can choose either COMMON parameters (those that apply to the entire Multi) and the individual PARTS, numbered [1] through [16]

You navigate through the Motif-Rack XS with the UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT CURSOR arrows and the [ENTER] button.

Move the CURSOR to number [1] and press [ENTER] to view and select a sound for PART 1. Highlight “VOICE” > press [ENTER]
Select a VOICE for PART 1.

You should really read the OWNER’s MANUAL to get comfortable with navigating the parameters - it can be tricky (but only at first and only if you haven’t bothered to read the very basic navigation stuff, it is highly recommended).
