Hello forum.

I’ve got a very basic question. I purchased a couple of NS10 Studio Monitors which I’ve learned to be Passive. Unfortunately, I’m not at liberty to dish out any bucks for a rack amplifier at this time. Or maybe I should say, not able to dish out any substantial money for the amps that I am considering to invest in.

So the question is, are the assignable outputs on the XF8 powered? Can I simply plug these passive monitors into those outputs and get adequate sound for monitoring and mixing?

I am using Cubase as my DAW and the Yamaha XF8 is serving as my Audio Interface.

Thanks

No.

No.

Passive speakers like the NS10Ms require a proper amplifier - a minimum of 45 Watts per channel… (the more power you provide the better they will sound). Never underpower passive speakers - that is when they blow.
