I got my set list app working with my s90xs.  Problem is it seems each program is off by 1 #.

For instance I am trying to program the sound full concert grand which is A02 in voice (pre 1) set, but when i program it it programs one number off.

I put in to program B11 Vintage 74 MSB-63, LSB-0, 027, and i get 028 on the keyboard (R & B soft).  is there a setting for this to correct it?

That’s because when you ask a computer (math) geek to count to ten, they appropriately start with zero. And MIDI, make no mistake, was developed by computer geeks!
:-)

That is why the Program Changes are off by one.
The Program Change for the first Voice in any bank is 000.

Full Concert Grand which is the second sound would be Program Change 001.

Notice Volume is 0-127, not 1-128
Notice Mod Wheel goes from 0-127
Foot pedals travel 0-127
Program Changes as well are 0-127 for each bank of 128 Voices.

Zero is a significant number throughout MIDI.

That is what i figured.

Is there a fix or do i have to always deduct one and pray for the best?

Subtract 1, it will always work. Yikes, simply arithmetic. If you want Program 1, use Program Change 0. If you want Program 45, use Program Change 44. Simple… always works.

If you think the math will go and change on you, it hasn’t yet… after Dec 21, 2012 (all bets are off)

Yeah see that’s the point.  I did not know if i have to do the math in Mayan figures, and then write a macros to compensate for the change in the time space contingency due to impending armagedon.

Thanks for the confirmation on the math equation.  I was hoping there was some sort of fix or offset in the app or that i can do in the keyboard.

Is there any PC (mac) programs that will let me do the same?
