I feel like I must mention that it is now June 24, 2012.
The 01x (2003) has been discontinued some 5 or 6 years now.
And Windows XP, well, that is two versions of Windows ago (which is a LONG time in computer time). That being the case, while you certainly could get a system up and running, I feel obligated to tell you that building a recording system (now) around a computer with a discontinued Operating System and gear that is also all discontinued, on a piece of software that has long since gone away, is not for those who are not well prepared for the adventure.
I’m a Product Specialist and I would not tackle that now - unless the wager was well worth my while
The AW1600 (2006) is also ancient but has the advantage of not relying on the current status of computer Operating Systems to do what it does. When you turned it ON, back in 2006 it was a Hard Disk/CD Recorder studio in a box, and if it still turns On six years later, it will still be a Hard Disk/CD Recorder studio in a box. I’m not sure exactly what this sentence means: “im a leak with al these gear...” but if it means you are not a power user, then I would say why not look for a more current solution to your recording goal - there are certainly cost effective methods to do what you want to do without having to break the bank - or going back in time to try and make your music. SQ01 predates XP, and eventually when you cannot run XP any more you will be completely lost.
If you are running XP and you have a Motif XS, why not work with CUBASE AI that came with your XS.
I think you will be amazed at what you can accomplish with just an XS8 and Cubase. All of the innovative things that SQ01 could do have now been built into the Cubase software! The total integraton of external hardware settings into the computer DAW work environment has been added to Cubase via the special EXTENSIONS that Yamaha has written - these “teach” Cubase how to address the external hardware and how to setup for multiple port audio and MIDI communication via Firewire. |
