Anyone using the Alesis IO Dock for Ipad w/ Motif keyboards?  If so how are you using.

I have a Mofif Classic 8 and a Motif XF 6 and looking for way to record from each.  Anyone using this in this fashion?

I use the Alesis IO Dock but not for recording.  I use it for playing my samples live through GarageBand.  I do sometimes have a grounding issue but have worked that out.  The IO Dock comes in handy as a mini mixer with being able to put in two inputs.  i will have to try to record with it one day.  The outputs are good and the separate headphone out with the volume knob is perfect if you are running loops with a drummer.  In any case it is a great buy and I plan to use it with my two motifs at a wedding reception this weekend.  I plan to run everything into the IO dock first then run that to the mixer.  Not doing stereo for this gig, not enough money to put in the extra effort.

let me ask you this…

have you figured out a way to route click tracks through the headphone jack to a drummer and have that be the ONLY thing coming through that output?  its seeming like the headphone output is an exact copy of what it coming out of the mains…

That is correct. It will always be an exact copy of what is coming out of the mains.

The best way to build a ‘timing’ track separate for your drummer is to take advantage of the Motif-series ability to route individual sounds (say from a drum kit Voice) to an assignable output. When you route an individual drum sound (all of the CLICK sounds are available in the drum kits by the way) - route it to one or both of the assignable outputs and send that to its own amplification system. When you route an individual sound or PART to an assignable output it is automatically removed from the MAIN outputs (and removed from the headphone outputs). You can freely route it to a small amplifier or headphone amp for the drummer. (Only the drummer will hear this timing part.)

That is how the pros do it.

I was talking about the Alesis headphone output.

And in Gospel music when we refer to a click track, we don’t mean just a “click” metronome sound… but an entire percussion track used to enhance the sound of the song (in most cases, used in combination with a drummer)

With the motif though, I’m assuming that it’s possible to route multiple sounds from the drum kit out to the assignable out… (maybe even the entire drum kit/ or drum track)...?
