hello,

I’ve a question related to pattern/song modes. i wanted to give a performance in either modes with real time arpeggios and mix of voices and layers. My question is how can i play melody part(say synth sound) with my right hand and chords(with guitar arpeggiation ON) with my left hand so that the guitar arpeggio should follow my left hand chords in real time...just like arpeggios follow left hand chords in performance mode—i wanted to do the same thing in song/pattern mode.

Could this be achieved using a layer in pattern/song mode such as synth sound on the right side of the keyboard and guitar arpeggio for the left hand ...i have no idea how to do that.

Also, could you please help me how to import arpegios from motif xf to cubase AI5...sorry to bother with lots of questions...i really appreciate your help..

Thanks Very Much.

Vijay.

You can setup in PERFORMANCE mode, and then COPY any PERFORMANCE into a SONG/PATTERN MIXING program

Go to SONG or PATTERN MIXING
And use the function to COPY a PERFORMANCE into that MIXING setup…

Press [MIXING]
Press [JOB]
Press [F3] COPY
Press [SF3] PERF
Mark the attributes you wish to COPY from the PERFORMANCE to this MIXING setup.

You have selected not to give us any details so we cannot be as specific in our answer.

But you understand how to record one PERFORMANCE to a SONG or PATTERN. What you fail to realize (by the nature of the question) is that each PERFORMANCE is designed to be basis of a single composition. Each PERFORMANCE has 5 different ARP combos, accessible via [SF1]-[SF5] - each designed to be a musical section of the composition (verse, chorus, etc., etc.)

That said, if you would like to have multiple bands record to a single composition you can… Simply target separate PATTERNS, then combine them when you CONVERT them to SONG mode. Here’s how:

Say you select a PERFORMANCE and record it to PATTERN 01.
Select a second PERFORMANCE and record it to PATTERN 02.
Select a third PERFORMANCE and record it to PATTERN 03.

When you want to construct a SONG from these three PATTERNS you can do so… learn to use the PATTERN CHAIN function - it allows you to create a playback order for your SECTIONS.

Say in PATTERN 01 you used SECTIONS A, B, C and D and each SECTION is 8 measures in length.
Create a Chain of these four SECTIONS and CONVERT it to a SONG #01. This will create a linear SONG from measure 001 - 032.

Say in PATTERN 02 you used SECTIONS A, B, and C and each is 8 measures.
Create a CHAIN of these three SECTIONS and CONVERT them to SONG 01 but this time starting from measure 033, and make sure you clear the box that says “without PC” (because you will want to have it insert Program Changes). This will add measures 033 - 056 to your song.

Say in PATTERN 03 you used SECTIONS A, B C and D and each is 8 measures.
Create a CHAIN of these four sections and CONVERT them to SONG 01 but this time starting from measure 057

See how it works?

Each PERFORMANCE is like hiring a new band in the middle of the composition (not recommended) but nothing says you cannot do it. Many times some famous bands have other musicians come in and play in the middle of the song (lol)… you will need to go to your SONG and move the Program Change events so that they do not interfere with playback. You cannot have a musical note and a program change happen on the same clock tick… typically it takes a few milliseconds to change programs… move PC events about 10-25 clock ticks before the downbeat (it depends on your tempo).

You can do this by advancing them (moving them slightly ahead of the downbeat or you can simply avoid this by having your first PERFORMANCE to tracks 1-4, and moving your second PERFORMANCE to tracks 5-8, and moving your third to tracks 9-12

Hope that helps.

Me podrían ayudar con la manera de realizar arpegio para bajo y/o piano, puesto de que después de enviar al “put track to arpegio” y luego emplearlo al arpegioador no me responde el acorde que estoy interpretando.
Ej. presiono C E G EL ACORDE ME DA UNA NEGRA EN C UNA CORCHEA EN E Y OTRA CORCHEA EN G. PERO SI HAGO UNA INVERSIÒN ME RESPONDE ALA POSOCION DE LA INVERSION Y SI PROCURO PASAR A PTRO ACORDE POR LO QUE TENGO QUE TENER PRESIONADA UNA DE LAS TRES TECLAS EL ARPEGIO PIERDE ARMONIA Y QUEDA SOLO UNA SOLA NOTA. Cómo puedo hacer para que se mantenga el acorde Y NO RESPONDA A LA INVERSION?

No puedes. Estas son las conversiones disponibles:

1) Normal.
