I have the strangest problem. When I turn on my monitors they will ‘click’ at regular intervals. After I turn them on I will hear a soft click click, then silence for a second or two, then click click, then silence for a second or two. The clicks and silence are at very predictable intervals and last as long as the speaker is on. Nothing is on but the speakers. The click is very soft and the speakers are a bit noisy, like monitors when playing live if you turn them up real loud.

Any ideas?

Matt

Speakers are never noisy - they only reproduce noise, they are not themselves noisy. Without any knowledge of what speakers, what type of speakers (powered or not), what’s near them (cell phone, cell tower, x-ray machine, pace maker… etc) it would be impossible to guess. But the speakers are just the messanger - something is causing the clicking. If you need help, here in the Motif Studio section, please provide a bit more information. Regular clicks could be a clock - but you say nothing is on but the speakers - so are they powered or is there a separate amp?

You mean you can’t read my mind?!?! :)

I have powered speakers (KRK RP 6). They are plugged into a standard, albeit old, surge protector which is plugged into the wall. There are several other things plugged into the surge protector, but none of them were on. I have ok audio cables, but certainly not professional level (but I’m not a professional!). I do not hear the ‘clicking’ through headphones if I plug them into the mixer.

There is no phone, clock or pacemaker near them and my kids weren’t clicking in my ear. There are other things in the house of course, but not terribly near them.

I tried switching place where Plug the monitors in and it seemed to have eliminated the problem. Who knows? Buzz is gone too.
