why can not I change the pattern section of a pattern track using SysEx? Using live productions. Do not be limited to a pattern chain.

Because there is no System Exclusive command for the Motif XS for SECTION CHANGE.

Using live productions. Do not be limited to a pattern chain.

You are not limited to Pattern Chain, you can change Sections using the dedicated SECTION Change buttons on the front panel. Additionally you can set the Section Change Pattern Quantize value so that pressing the buttons will change Sections at the next 1 Measure, the next 1/2 note, the next 1/4 note, the next 1/8 note or the next 1/16 note

Press [SEQ SETUP]
Presss [F4] OTHER
Set PATTERN CHANGE > Quantize to the setting you require.
