This is a feature that I’d like to be considered for an OS update.

Sometimes, when loading individual voices on Motifs, just the voice name isn’t enough to go on. What about a preview key for voices? When you press this function/subfunction key, the currently selected voice and samples are loaded for preview. The voice, for example, could just be loaded in to the edit buffer, so that it didn’t need to actually overwrite any memory locations. There would obviously be a little pause while the voice is loaded for preview, but that would provide a way to verify that a voice is the one that you want, prior to loading it in to a bank.

Of course, it is currently possible to load a voice in to a temporary memory location, like user 4, H16, but the catch is that, if the voice isn’t what you want, you still have the samples in memory. Hopefully, a preview function would dump the temporary samples, along with the temporary voice, when you moved on to loading or previewing another voice.

Thank you for considering this.

BTW: Already purchased my XF with 2GB flash. This will be my third Motif! I still have my own personal wish list for the Motif, but, given what’s out there, I still think that Yamaha has the best mix of sound and features, and I absolutely love the high quality control panel, full of hands-on control options. Thanks for not stripping away controls and deferring to a touch screen for everything!

Oh, and thanks for continuing to listen to requests from us after you already have our money. *smile* A few of mine were accepted for XS updates, and I really appreciate that, and will remember it in the future!
