I’m not new to motifator.com.  I’ve been a long time spectator (since when the Motif ES, 01x, & i88x were current), but barely starting now to register.

I own the Motif ES 7, 01x, i88x, & the now discontinued Motif XS6.

I just wanted to introduce myself to this forum because I wanted to participate in the Motif XF forum.

My humble suggestion to you will be to skip this ‘advancement’ XF once and for all and wait for another 3 years for yamaha to get their heads straight.

XF has no mlan (meaning you can’t network anymore with the other devices you possess), no step recording (like on the ES you have), no an or fm or vl or vh synthesis like on your ES, nothing good really....

XF seems like a stripped down XS! with additional flash and black color (that allows you to see permanent grease stains, finger prints and other artifacts on your keyboard panel surface much easier).

I wasn’t really saying in my previous post that I was going to get a XF.  I wouldn’t be majorly against it if I sold one of my older Motifs.  I think the XF is a nice incremental update the XS. Ok, maybe with the flash memory a major incremental update.  I suspect people were expecting a major overhaul to compete with the Fantom G’s sequencers and other features.

I hear you on the XS not being able to participate in a mLAN network, however, I believe with all the mLAN devices I have I’m maxed out anyways.  Also, mLAN is fading away anyways because it doesn’t officially work on anything after Windows XP and Leopard (or so I’ve been told).

I think it’s ironic that here a lot of people don’t like the XF, but at the Fantom forums there are a lot of people who expressed an interest in the Motif XF.  Normally, it’s the other way around.

There are 3 kinds of people here:

- those who complain, but do not play (much),
- those who play, but don’t complain much (see Mo’Songs),
- those who play, learn, ask and make some remarks.
