Hello there.I own MM6 and i thing it is an amazing keyboard for it’s price. But there is a huge mistake in the design of MM6.

It is supposed to be a synthesizer and the editing of sounds is very poor.I don’t like this. So, is there anyone to tell Yamaha to make a free software editor for MM6 so we can make new sounds with more detailed editing through a pc and then store the parameters of the new sounds in the MM6?

It is too bad that other manufacturers like Korg give software editors with their keyboards (like Korg X50) and Yamaha gives only a useless D.A.W. that has nothing to do with the instrument.

I mean a voice editor for the MM6 would be more useful than the Cubase that comes with it.Everyone can find a free D.A.W. to work in his pc.This version of Cubase is only to make you buy the big version of it which means Yamaha only cares about making money and nothing else. And i’m sorry about that.It makes me very sad.Really.And i love this keyboard.

That says it all really.

The rest of what you say is really not relavant (nor is it true). If you are looking for the features you mentioned, the next model up the ladder has that and more: it is the MO6

The MM6 is an entry-level keyboard. Perhaps you needed to explore and go with just one more step up the ladder… at the MO6 you get:
- a full-fledged synth with editing
- computer based Multi-Part and Voice Editors
- 16 track sequencing built-in

we are glad you love your MM6 but perhaps you’re ready for the next level…

Hello.I know what MO6 can do.I Know about all the Motif series,Motif classic,Es,Xs,MO6-MO8 and of course MM6-MM8.And i am not ready just for the MO but for the XS also but that is not the point.

MM6 is supposed to be a synthesizer. So it should have at least a detailed sound editing.Maybe not as the ES or XS but something deeper than the Psr arranger keyboards offer because the voice editing of MM6 is the same (or worst) with the Psr 1000 or Psr 2100 which i also own !

Why not a software editor for the MM6?All Yamaha synths have it’s own editor, why not MM6?Is it because of it’s “entry” level?

If it is an entry level SYNTHESIZER and not arranger, don’t you think that the basic think it should have would be voice editing?
If not,why do you call it a synth and not an arranger with SOME Motif sounds and many Psr sounds?

Yes, i like it very much but the fact that it should have more detailed voice editing remains.Even the Casio MZ2000 arranger have more detailed voice editing than MM6 and that keyboard came out 8 year’s ago and it is an arranger, not synthesizer.

Anyway,if someone ask Yamaha to give the programming code of the keyboard so he can make a free software editor for the people to use, would Yamaha do such a think?

If anyone owns MM6, let’s say his opinion to see if there is anyone else with the same desire as I.Let’s vote for it!!!Is it possible?

I agree with Faethon.  Yamaha MM6 is a decent keyboard with a misleading name: ‘synth’ and Yamaha seem to completely ignore it ... If you look at this site you ‘ll probably agree with this statement. I also purchased a PSR S550 and the only real advantage of the MM6 I found so far is the arpeggios.  For the rest the S550 is a by far superior keyboard!

So please YAMAHA do something for MM6/8 owners in terms of support, Voices, Styles etc or consider the alternative: Give all MM6 owners an incentive to move higher to a proper Synth or arranger keyboard…

ClaudioC can you please tell us if the Psr S550 has a sound creator feature and if it does how much detailed editing level it offers compared to MM6?

I have entry level synths (not rich) for 30 years now.
My first synth was an entry level Yamaha CS5 back in 1978, that was a synth you could create your sound but it was mono and had no memories
I also had a Yamaha SK15 (not named a synth) it was a preset machine with string and organ sounds.
Later on i owned a Yamaha DX100, another entry level synth, you could also make your own sounds and save it
The MM6 is not a synth it is a preset machine like a DJX I own both of then and they are very similar. The only good thing about the MM6 is the Motif sounds, the midi player is size and weight. But it lacks a lot to be named a synth

I hope Yamaha respects is clients giving them an editor for this machine otherwise it is the same as buying a PSR Keyboard

By the Way Yamaha is forgetting the analog side why not recreate a new cs01 (it selles well on ebay) Korg has the microkorgs, the radias, and soft synths with thelegacy, Roland has the Sh01 Gaia, Moog is back with the minimoog and Dave Smith has the mopho the prophet 8, what about Yamaha wake up and do something

Yamaha will not do such a thing you say because all they care about is making money. When i bought MM6 it came with Cubase LE which is almost useless if you think that there are free sequencing programms that can do what this can.

They should give with the MM6 a software editor for the MM6 just to justify the MUSIC SYNTHESIZER they typed on the MM6.I mean, they lied to their consumers and they have lost me.I do not trust them and i am not going to purchase anything from them again because they are liers.

One simple software editor, god damnit, one simple editor, can’t they do it?

Hi i also have the mm6 plus other keyboards,,keep in mind even thou u cant deep edit voices u can adjust effects plus use the 4 knobs to change the caracter of the sound then save it to a performance bank.. it was a bit hard to get use to the limatations but playing around with it was really not that bad i guess it defeats the purpose for what yamaha wanted to do if the would have added all the features we all wanted,,the main thing here was to keep the cost down plus at least give a bit of everything basicly.. i have the korg microstation but notice the price is simular it has lot of nice features but it has mini keys it not everyones cup of teas,, sure u can add a keyboard controller but u end up luggin around extra baggage,, mm6 was basicly great for biginners and most of the sounds are really not that bad i also own the yamaha ex-7 i even tried to get some sounds on my mm6 to sound close to the ex-7 even thou y have to take in account that the mm6 uses i belive a 2 element waves and your higher end m06 4 element then u have your xf bringing in 8 elements,, the good part is i was able to use some of the styles that i downloaded from the internet and load them to use different patterns.. so up to now i have taken the route in accepting it limatations and learning to use it and up to now i cant complain......
