I have a used Motif rack and no software. Its the first generation unit not the ES.

I downloaded the studio manager and editor software. Both load and open fine however I cannot seem to use the visual editor as I see the edit screen and get no sounds.

Im on a Mac btw.

I also cannot seem to load patches into the Motif.

I d/l a bunch of classic patches from the MoBros website.

Can anyone offer a helping hand?

Welcome to the forums.  Let’s see if we can get you squared away.

You say “Visual Editor,” which usually applies to Plug-In boards.  Is that what you’re trying to do, or are you meaning VOICE editor?

Are you certain the MIDI configuration of the Studio Editor / Voice editor matches the MIDI configuration of your RACK?

Are you using the RACK in USB mode, but have the MIDI source in the UTILITY set to MIDI instead of USB?

Are you able to get the RACK to do ANYTHING from the MAC?  (If so, you’ve apparently gotten the MIDI communications correct...)

Try to provide more details about what is working and what is not.

Ok I know have communication between my computer and the Rack. I can open a patch editor window hit the keys with the mouse and get sounds out of the rack.

I am running the free Studio Manager software with the voice editor for Mac I thinks its ver 2.3.0

I have downloaded patched but they are all grayed out.

How do I get the software to recognize the patches and then load them into the Motif.

I basically want to get patches into the unit and really dont care about the actual editing.

I’m not sure what you mean by “Grayed Out.” What file format are the patches that your downloaded (ie, what extension is the file? .w9e? .w6e?)

What are the exact steps you’re taking, starting with
