Hi, I am assuming the XS series is still akai compatible. I am on a mac using logic and I want to create a library of multisamples that I can transfer to the XS8.  Should I use the akai format as the common ground between the two? Or would there be an easier way? I get the feeling that it would be much easier and more convenient for me to sample, set loop points and organize key ranges on my computer than via the interface on the keyboard itself, so that’s what i’d like to do, if possible.

Thank you!  Darcy

I really don’t know if the XS is Akai compatible. I just searched the ES manual for the work ‘Akai’ and it indicates support for this format. I searched the XS manual for the same word and got no hits.

I’d be interested to know if it is - I have some old Akai CD-ROMs somewhere…

Df.

While the previous generations of the Motif (the classic and Motif ES) supported reading Akai samples (from properly formatted original CD’s), the Motif XS does not. Your best bet is to purchase one of the sampler translating programs (such as Chickensys or AWave).

Thanks for the replies, that’s good to know.

What about load times, are the prohibitive?  If I have half a gigabyte of sample material, how long would it take to load off a usb stick?
