Changing voices in a live setting requires me to take my right or left hand off the keyboard, change the voice, then back to the keyboard. This sometimes leaves a hole in my sound. I would like to hit the button to change the voice but the sound doesn’t change until I strike a key. Is that possible somehow?

I have been setting up “performances”....then “performance control” using the “part mute” section to switch between voices.

Your profile says you have a Motif XS, so you can load voices into the sequencer and change them as you suggest. There was an OS update about a year ago or so to enable this, so you’ll have to check to be sure you have the latest if this does not work for you on the version you have.

Post in the XS forum if you need help with that.

I’m also working with Song/Pattern in Mixing Mode (because of the good overview) to switch between voices.

It’s the best solution for live music.
Fill the 16 Tracks with your Voices/ combine Voices like in Performance Mode…

Result -> Fast control, no more “holes” or “gaps” between sound switches

*****************************************************
I’m playing Bass and Chords:

Track 1-15 (Midi Ch. 1-15) for Chord-Sounds played on Motif XS
-> internal control enabled/ external control disabled
-> Output set to Output R & L (sending Stereo Sound to mixer)

Track 16 (Midi Ch.16) Bass Sound which i control with an external Midikeyboard

-> internal control disabled/ external control enabled
-> Output set to Assignable Output L (sending Mono Bass Sound to mixer)
The soundman will be thankful for seperated signals :)

Combine a Midikeyboard - and it’s like you’re playing two Motif XS

Example:
Track 1-14 (Midi Ch. 1-14) for Sounds played on Motif XS
Track 15-16 (Midi Ch. 15-16) for Sounds played on Midikeyboard

build Splits or Soundlayers (with or without velocity switches)

You have so much possibilities!!
There are many good tutorials in the “Article” and “Download” section.
