What I do is ..

First I choose the instruments and create some patterns, then I paste them into the song, then I tweak the effects and that stuff, and finally I record the song into Cubase (for further sound editing) using an Audio Interface.

Is this a good way to create a song?

Should I edit the midi with cubase before applying effects?
