Page 38 in the regular Editor manual has the directions for importing files. I did not download the VST version, so no help for you there. As you know, the X0V format is the Keyboard’s voice file, and the sample pack is just that - it contains samples. Your Rack cannot load samples.

Don’t know if that’s the issue, but…

Bob

Hello Spongebob,
Thanks for the reply, but Athan said that a certain amount of voices would indeed load in the editor that did not contain samples in the XS RACK.I tried it the way the manual says to do it,but when I try to load it,it will not work.So now…

Bad Mister then mentioned he would explain how to do it,when I posted in the correct forum in which I am now posting here for a few days awaiting an answer… Fun times thanks Yamaha for all the help!

It is hard to understand what you are missing.

We assume you have the Motif-Rack XS Editor VST open within Cubase.
On the Editor’s menu bar go to FILE > IMPORT
When the IMPORT window opens Click on the OPEN FOLDER icon
Set the FILE OF TYPE = Motif XS All Voice (*.x0v)
Navigate to the place on your computer or drive where you have the files in question.
Highlight the “XSpand Your World 3.X0V”
Click “OPEN”

This will import the Voice data to the left side of the IMPORT window… where you can view them by CATEGORY or by BANK.
The right side of the IMPORT window is your internal Motif Rack XS

See page 39 of the Motif-Rack XS EDITOR VST Owner’s Manual

These are the sounds that I’m trying to open in cubase 5 with the MR 816 csx + yamaha rack xs > XSpanded Sample Bank 3 - Voices 65-128

These sounds Athan mentioned these would work in the rack..

Importing these sounds are CRASHING CUBASE 5 ... Hence they are not working!!!

“I’ve tried to import the sample pack 3 voices within the new vst3 editor,I go to what I think is the correct view “files of type” select the .xov file and nothing I cannot see the file.”

So we are to assume you can actually “see the file”. It is difficult to know what question we are answering, “not working” and not being able to see the file are two very different things.

I will check this out next time I’m at my Motif XS.
There is a known bug with MediaBay that when importing Voices that have no Category tag, you may have an issue. So until a fix comes along you will have to ensure that a Category and Sub-Category exists for the Voices you are importing into MediaBay.

Logical thing to do as before you put the laundry away you separate the socks from the undershorts. Check and make sure there are Categories for the Voices you are importing as vstpresets, if not, create them. Let us know.

I want also to be sure of the question of bobbybland,
First :
You want to import in the VST editor for XS rack open into cubase 5 the .xov file.
After select in the file menu, in the import windows the file type “motif XS all voices” you can’t see the file ?

After you write that it crashed cubase 5 also, with the file i have send you ?

Papa your file works!! As I mentioned though, when I tried to import the .xov file I was able to see it,I import it and then it crashes cubase 5.

The editor file you sent me does not crash though.

I’m wondering if the 80’s pop and rock has same issue making cubase crash??

Paid 30 bucks for those sounds I really would like to use them :]
Just trying to figure why the .xov file crashes for me,not you?

Anyhow thanks must be patient I guess//

Ok, for the .xov file from Xspanded 3, i have import it on the Xs rack editor (not vst) into studio manager and i can select the voices in the different part without crash.
So it seems to be a different problem than 80’s pop/rock.
At this time i have no answer.
