I’m pretty much new to all of this so my apologies up front.  My father-in-law is a heck of a keyboardist but unfortunetly doesn’t know the first thing about computers and wanted to get into recording his tunes.  This is where I came in.  He is running a Motif ES8 into a Mbox2 with Pro Tools 7.4 and Reason.

Initially we were only using 1/4 out to the Mbox but I knew to take full advantage of the software and hardware we should be using MIDI. So far I have been able to record with MIDI in Pro Tools and Reason but I am looking to take this a step further still yet.  I believe we can program the keyboard/software to control the sequencer controls of the computer ( I hope). We have been unable to determine how to assign sliders on the Motif to control parameters on the computer.  However, in Reason the Modulator wheel and Pitch wheel do control the Malstrom and Subtractor Mod/Pitch controls.  If anyone is familiar with this setup I could use your help.

I truly have tons of questions to post in the forums and will continue to do so.  Please if I am not clear on what I am asking or the configuration please ask me and I will do my best to clarify.  Up till this point I have been a club DJ in Denver and do have some minor exposure to music but this is really a new experience for me.  This stuff is so addicting and look forward to expanding my knowledge even more.  I appreciate your help.
