Hello,

I just downloaded the new vst editor. When I try to setup the buses using usb in port 4 and midi out in the editor setup ( I choose motif xs 6-1 for all) and press ok, it tells me “time out error”. All my midi ports are active on cubase. Also in the vsti setup, when i try to assign the audio return ports, I get the ! sign in front of the name of my audio interface when I assign it to more than one audio port (!USB audio codec).

I have windows xp, cubase AI 4.5, motif xs 6, and the vsti editor.

Thank you,

Ted.

Okay, slow down and take deep breath.

The setup for the editor with USB is no different than the setup for the regular editor.

Select setup from the editor, make sure USB is selected and also Motif XS6 then click detail.  Port 1 should be set to USB Port 1 and Port 4 should be set to USB port 4.

There are no audio busses for USB because USB is MIDI only.

Also if you are having problems, look at the top of the editor and select the manual from the help pulldown. Instructions on the setup is included in the manual.

We have tested it with both Firewire and USB and when it is set up correctly everything will work fine.

It sounds like you don’t have Port 4 connected so the editor is not connected on the correct USB Port.

I have read the manual and I’m still having issues.I’m getting audio from the XS editor via the Audition, but not when triggering from my controller.

Athan are you using the MR816? Has anyone yet tested it with this?
Also how about cubase 5 with this connection.

I’m stoopified as to why this isn’t working correctly on my setup,I have all the suggested tools for this to work correctly.
My midi ports are all correctly setup, but this is still not working correctly. My audio is obviously working as well as the Audition is working and it suggests that..So ?

How well was it tested if this is happening?
Was it tested in Cubase 5?

HELP PLEASE!

I should not that this problem is with the Instrument Track function, when I load it via the Instrument track,it does not work.
If I go to a midi track, all of a sudden it recognizes how to work.
Baffled.. :]

Always on the bleeding edge LOL.  Not may are on C5 yet.  Don’t know if that is where you are having trouble.  Wish I could help.

Are you on VISTA?
Are you using USB?
Do you have the latest USB driver?
Do you have the latest 1.63 AI driver?
How are you triggering the rack?
Is your midi controller set up as input on the VSTi midi track?
Is the track armed or monitor on to pass the signal?

You may need to list the details of how you set it up so BM can help.

1. No Vista - die vista
2.Usb yes
3.Latest usb driver - Version 2.2.3 XP
4. No 1.63 AI driver,it’s not needed in my case right?
5.Triggering the rack via a roland a-50 which is connected to a 4x4 midi interface (working with all other vstis)
5.Yes - using all midi inputs
6.Yes

Thanks Synthgeek for responding.

Wild guess.

To solve this problem, remove the checkmark for the Port 4 of MIDI input (Yamaha MOTIF-RACK XS6/7/8 – 4) in the “All MIDI Input” section and “Visible” section in the [Devices] → [Device Setup] → [MIDI Port Setup] in Cubase.

I know this is for Vista, but I always remove anything from the all midi input because in certain cases it causes undesired behavior.  Try setting this to no assignment.

Under setup, choose USB for data port.

For Port 1 midi out Motif RXS-1 should be selected.
For port 4 midi in select Motif RXS-4
For port 4 midi out select Motif RXS-4

Important!

Under VSTi setup on the editor menu, click the clear button and set the Rack XS 1 to the MR8 3&4;if that is the input you are using.

From the manual

When the VSTi Setup is not determined, or no audio device is installed, an error message appears on the MOTIF-RACK
XS Editor VST. The follow functions are limited when no audio port is selected.
• Automation
• Keyboard (page 35)
Make sure to set the audio ports of the audio interface connected to the MOTIF-RACK XS instrument on the VSTi Setup
window.

4. No 1.63 AI driver,it’s not needed in my case right?

I believe this is correct.

Also, after making those setup and VSTi audio setups you may have to save it and close.  If you are using it in the VSTi rack, make sure to click the output icon and select only the first set of outputs.

Edit:  Just read BM’s responses in another post.  He mentioned that using the instrument track is not a good idea if you are using the rack multi-timbral for more than one part.  If you are going to use more than one part on the XS rack, it is better to use the VST instrument rack and use midi tracks.

Well I can see his point, but this isn’t a matter of that per say it’s a matter of no audio happening. This editor is buggy in cubase 5 with the MR816CSX,it’s losing connection somehow.

Thanks for the responses..

Hopefully they can fix this issue.

What I found to work is this..

Load the XS Rack editor in the Vst Instruments rack..

Now go to a midi channel - select - all midi inputs - IN
Now choose Yamaha Motif XS Usb XS-3 midi output

That’s whats getting my midi to respond to the editor, that and only that.Hopefully Yamaha can chime in on this at some point.

And so what happens is it obviously loose’s connection when it crashes cubase 5 when I’m trying to save sounds via mediabay.. I then can only get it back working when I restart my cpu.
Wow,I thought this would have been smoother..
