It’s an XS8 in the bottom left. The “Yamaha” and “Motif XS8” labels are covered. You can see the Ethernet and Firewire ports toward its center-left.

It’s not uncommon for pro musicians to have a relationship with gear manufacturers such as the endorsement/sponsorship of being a “Yamaha Artist”.

I have no particular knowledge of why identifying marks were covered, but that sort of thing can sometimes indicate a falling out between manufacturer and artist.
