My church has a MOX8.
This past Sunday the 2 upper G notes on the keyboard wouldn’t play.
I’m 100% positive this didn’t exist last week because we played the same song and it was fine. Is there any kind of setting that could cause this? The keyboard is locked up and doesn’t get abused. If 2 keys are physically broken, seems weird they would both be G. |

I presume you’re referring to G5 an G6. I have an idea what might be causing the problem, but first a question… Do C#5 and C#6 work? |

I played up and down on the keyboard and didn’t find any other dead notes, but I don’t want to say I’m 100% sure. I won’t know until Sunday. If they do (or don’t) work, what should I check? Is it something I can do on my MOXF8 here at home? |

The keyboard in the MOX8 has three p.c. boards, GHL88L (Low - A-1~C2), GHL88M (Medium - C#2~C5), and GHL88H (High - C#5~C7). G5 and G6 are on the H board, and they share two lines in the key matrix. Since both aren’t working, the common factor could be that there’s a problem with a connection of the cable from the H to the M board. That could be caused by something as simple as a bit of corrosion at a cable contact. However, those same two lines are used by C#5 and C#6, so if the connection I’m discussing is the problem, those two keys would also be affected. If C#5 and C#6 are OK while G5 and G6 are dead, then it’s more likely that there’s a key matrix decoding problem. That can be caused by a chip failure. |

Yikes...not the news I expected. Thanks a lot for the details. |

There’s still a remote possibility that the two highest G keys failed due to key contact issues, but as you’re aware that would be a strange coincidence.

You’re welcome. Let us know what you find on Sunday about C#5 and C#6. |

Yeah, I think we would all prefer something to just break completely. :) |

I’m having a similar problem with my MOX6, if I slide off Ab to A it keeps Ab stuck on, it doesnt release that note and if i move back to Ab quickly it doesnt release the A note. This happens in every octave. I’ve tried changing the rubber contact strips, this doesnt solve it. |

A problem that affects a particular note in all octaves can’t be a key contact problem. It’s somehow related to key matrix decoding. Since you posted concerning the same issue here…
