Hi Guys. My LCD just went black. (HIGHLY UNLIKELY SITUATION) All the other lights are on when when I’m powering up. I went to Yamaha in Dubai and they need to order the LCD from HQ in Japan which would take about 2 weeks. Is there any other way I can use my keyboard to play the tracks that I have on the keyboard. Maybe like a screen sharing or something. I know how to run my iPad with the motif but when I do that, my USB port will be occupied and cant use it to load my tracks. Help please! |

When an LCD is unlit, the problem is often not a failure of the panel, but rather a backlight inverter problem. See http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/478433/

Songs (or Patterns) can be selected by using an external device that can send the MIDI Song Select (F3) message. If you’re not familiar with that, see http://www.google.com/search?q=MIDI+Song+Select+F3 for some links. The F3 message can be sent by an application such as Set List Maker. See http://www.google.com/search?&q=Set+List+Maker for relevant links. If you need to see what Voices are used in each of the 16 Parts of a Song or Pattern Mix, the Yamaha Motif XF Editor could be run on a laptop. Since the button LEDs are apparently working, once a Song/Pattern is selected a specific track could be selected using the [1]~[16] buttons. Other members may have alternative suggestions. |

If your Motif is presently configured to communicate with the iPad you may find the Yamaha Multi Editor Essential App to be of help. It’s probably worth looking into and it’s free.
