I must apologize in advance, especially to 5pinDIN, because I know numerous threads have been written about this subject, but I cannot for the life of me find the Vintage Keys voices on my MOXF8.
I have loaded VNTGKEYS.X6A using type ALL.  I have looked through all USER banks and can’t find them anywhere.  I am reading everything I can to try and gain a better understanding of the architecture of the keyboard, but I cannot figure this out.

There’s no need to apologize, at least to me, but what’s happening is a bit puzzling. The VK library uses only built-in (ROM) samples, so loading as Type “All” should be straightforward and sufficient.

There had been a problem with loading the VK library to MOXF units having early OS versions. However, that problem generated an “illegal file” message. Since you didn’t mention that happening, can we correctly assume that such a message isn’t being generated?

No such message appears. All indications are that it loads properly.
I had contacted Keyfax about this some time ago and they said I needed to
upgrade my OS, but I think I am current now, and as I remember, I couldn’t get the file to load at all.  As some time has passed, my memory is a bit foggy:(

I have an XS and an XF. The Vintage Keys file I have is for the XS, and it will also load to my XF, in User Voice Bank 3. All 128 locations in the bank are from VK. Voice A01 is Suitcase 1965, A02 is Suitcase 1971, A03 is Babe, etc. Although I don’t know for sure, it’s likely that the MOXF version is similar. Of course, the bank selection method differs on the MOXF - there are nine Preset Normal Voice banks and 3 User Normal Voice banks, and the BANK SELECT [DEC]/[INC] buttons will step through the selection. (As opposed to the dedicated bank buttons of the XS and XF.)

After loading the MOXF VK file, if you’re not finding a User Voice bank with Voices named similarly to the above, what are the first few names in each of the three User banks?

I loaded the file again, and lo and behold, they are all in USR3!  I have checked names through B16 and they all agree with the VK manual.
Now I need to spend some time with the MOXF manual to learn how to add at least some reverb to everything.
I would like to do some recording soon.  I have Logic Pro X and a TASCAM DP-32SD also because I am old school and like to use physical faders.
Currently I have the MOXF connected directly to the Mac USB.  I also have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 connected to the Mac.  I have also invested money in software instruments from Garritan and Native Instruments, plus what Logic Pro offers.  I have not yet learned how to play these libraries on the MOXF.  Would I be correct in assuming that the answer to using the VST’s lies in the midi settings?  And do I need any additional midi interface other than what I already have?  Thank you for the help and advice.

I’m glad you got that resolved.

You could edit each individual Program (Voice, etc.) to your taste. However, if you want to add fixed System Effects to all Voices, that can be be done via the Utility mode Master Effect setting.
[UTILITY] > [F2]VOICE > [SF2]MFX
See pages 143 and 60 of the MOXF Reference Manual.

I personally work within the Motif environment - I don’t use VSTs or a DAW. Therefore I can’t offer much in the way of suggestions for your workflow. Hopefully other members will post and provide some insight concerning your intended usage. Of course, searching the forum would likely turn up previous threads covering use of VSTs and external audio interfaces. As to specifically MIDI data, the MOXF’s own USB MIDI should be sufficient for your needs, as long as the proper driver is installed.

You might want to begin a new topic, since the current “Trying to find Vintage Keys” may not attract those interested in the recording issues.
