Hello,

Can anybody advise me on how to create synth sounds used by ABBA on their songs, so I can re-produce the same sounds when performing.

Thanks,

BC

That’s a very broad request at best.

ABBA used many synths and so many different sounds--you would need to be more specific, and/or give us a link to what you’re looking for.

But, with a little time and of course some compromises nearly everything is possible with the XS.

A few days ago we’ve had the intro-sound from Pink Floyds “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” as a theme in the german Motif-Forum. So I invested two up to three hours for some sound-examples and a very, very short demo - just to show what is possible.

And if you like it, here are the sounds. Please, backup your data before loading and…

have fun.

Hey very nice Hape! Thank you for sharing this ;), love my Floyd man, excellent tweaking job to those voices, that intro sound sounds just like the Floyd one :) ( I think the Mourn Strings )

BC, you definitively asking at the right place but like Synthlogic said, post a bit more specific info, such as what song by Abba and what sound in it etc. I am sure someone here can give it a go and share the settings of the tweaked voice or tel ya how to do it yourself ;)

Jose.

Hi Jose,

thanks a lot for your feedback.

Greetings to San Diego - I’ve been there twice in my life and I like it very much.

Nice weekend ...

BC......do you have much experience with synth programming? Many of the sounds ABBA used are basic--sawtooth or square waves with various filter and envelope settings.

When I need to duplicate a sound, I search though what I already have in the XS (or other keyboard), then alter that sound to taste. It’s a great way to learn.
