Dear all,

first of all, I use setlistmaker on my ipad to change modes/programs on my MOTIF XS.

I programmed a few sounds within the MOTIF XS the following:

I use two Parts within a PERFORMANCE and switch/fade between these two with the Expression Pedal. Heel Down is the Voice for the main part of the song, heel up is the solo sound (which feels natural to me like the gas pedal in a car). I accomplished this with the Expression Pedal controlling the Element Levels of the Voices (the Element Levels of one Voice inverse to the Element Levels of the other Voice).

In UTILITY I only have the option to choose Controller Reset i)reset or ii)hold. I chose reset and now have the issue that when selecting the Performance the Expression Pedal value is set to maximum which then causes the solo sound to be chosen when selecting the PERFORMANCE. I need it exactly the other way round i.e. want to choose the sound for the main part of the song when selecting the PERFORMANCE. I thought about sending a sysex command after the Mode Change and Program Change to set the Expression Pedal to the minimum value from my ipad using setlistmaker. Unfortunately I am somehow lost in (MIDI-)translation.

Is there anyone out there who could give me hint to accomplish this challenge?

I don’t use Set List Maker. However, if I’m correctly understanding the situation, it should be possible (based on http://www.arlomedia.com/apps/setlistmaker/tutorials/sending_MIDI.html) to just send a Control Change message - controller number and value. Expression is CC#11, and it seems you want to send a value of 0(zero).

I was sure that there must be a way but somewhow I struggle with building the exact hex code command for setting the CC value. Is there anyone who can provide me with a link to the exact complete hexcode string for this task?

The link I previously provided appears to make this a simple operation.
See ”To send program changes, control changes or other MIDI data”,
in particular point 3…
“3. For control changes, you’ll see a set of two fields for each registered device if you define your MIDI devices as shown in the previous section. The first field is the controller number and the second field is the value. Values are counted from 0-127 or 1-128 depending on the Numbering setting for the MIDI device.”

Thank you so much for your reply. I had some busy months within the company I am working for but now I am back programing my MOTIF XS and your advice with regard to the two control change data fields within Set List Maker was really helpful. It works!
