I had Motif XF 8 but I sold. Now I would like to buy MOXF 8.
I have a question - can the library of sounds I had to the MOTIF XF load into the MOXF ? Performance? VOICES with samples and without samples ?
What type of files does MOXF read?

Here are some threads that might help:

“Import MOTIF XF Performances to a MOXF”

“Loading XF Library into MOXF - couple of questions”

“Motif XF files prerequisites to be loaded into MOXF”

The MOXF is directly compatible with some XF data - it is, for Voices, Performances, Arps, Waveforms, and Mix Templates, but not for Masters or sequencer data (Patterns/Songs).

Samples/Waveforms can be loaded to a MOXF if it has a flash module installed.

XF Masters have up to eight zones, MOXF Masters have only four zones, so not compatible.

The sequencers in the two models are different, so only Waveform data from an XF Song or Pattern file can be loaded to the MOXF. However, the MOXF can load an SMF (Standard MIDI File) with .MID extension - if an XF sequence was stored that way, it could therefore be loaded to the MOXF.

RafalSC -

What type of files does MOXF read?

The MOXF will directly load XF files, but with the above limitations. It will also load all MOX files, without limitation.

Pages 156-157 of the MOXF Reference Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/60478) details file loading compatibility.

Third party conversion software may be helpful under certain circumstances.

EDIT: cmayhle posted while I “composed” my post.  :-)

Thank you for your answer. I’m just interested in uploading sounds from my XS and XF into MOXF.
Will MOXF read files: .X0A? .X3A? . X3G (arpeggio)?
YES or NOT ....?

The instructions show that YES! ! ?!

which large FLASH memory can be mounted to MOXF? 2GB? or more ...?

The MOXF will not directly load XS (.X0A, etc.) files - third party software would be required to make the conversion.

Yes, “sounds” from .X3A - Voices, Performances, Arps, Waveforms.
Yes, .X3G

Yamaha choices are limited to 512MB and 1GB.

Mutec choices are 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB.

If I have saved the XS motif voices as files. X3A (I did it on motif XF) can I load into MOXF?

Any .X3A file can be loaded to a MOXF. It doesn’t matter that the original source was an XS.

woud really appreciate if you could tell me your general experience about MOXF as i’m thinking to switch to it. do you like it? would reacommend it to other people? thanks!

Yes, I would absolutely recommend it. It has tons of features.

-Tons of arpeggios, it helps you to build songs and performances and they inspire you. You can later on modify them.
-The pattern sequencer makes it easier for making songs, rehearsing and practicing
-You can add a Flash board and add sounds to your keyboard, you can even make your own sounds.
-There are amazing sound libraries that you can purchase and these use the internal waveforms (for some libraries you don’t need the flash board I mentioned above)
-This board sounds nice.
-Has tons of EFX
-It’s also an audio interface, you can connect your microphone or an instrument;
-It has a vocoder,
-It has a performance creator that allows you to play up to 4 instruments at the same time and each can have up to 6 arpeggios. It’s kind of an accompaniment that will follow your chord changes.
-It has its own sequencer.
-Manuals are easy to follow and if you purchase the video tutorials it’s even easier.

Before I purchased my unit I tried several brands, researched a lot, watched tons of Youtube videos. In the last stage I was undecided between a Korg Kross, a Yamaha PSR 970, a Yamaha MX and a MOXF. Once I played them I instantly knew the MOXF was for me.

Well I think this shows that I’m in love of my keyboard. However what it is Ok for me may be not for others. By the way, this community is awesome, we can help you once you get your keyboard

Greetings!
