Can the Motif XF8 VST Editor read files that were created with the MOX 8 VST Editor and vice versa?

I have a Motif XF8 and MOX 8.  I use the MOX at rehearsals and the Motif at gigs.  There are times that I create a sound on the MOX and don’t want to hand enter all of the parameters on the Motif and vice versa.

I’m wondering whether its safe to get the settings from the MOX into the VST editor then save the file, then open the file in the Motif VST editor and then sync with the Motif..  That would save me a lot of running between the two keyboards.

I would do trial and error here but I don’t want the sync to do something drastic :-(

No. While there are some “All” and Editor file types from certain models in the Motif family that are compatible with the Motif XF VST Editor, ones from the MOX aren’t.

You might find the Melas software useful for your purposes:

Thanx 5pinDin.,

I’ll check out the Melas site, I’ve hard nothing but good stuff about his utils.

Also in my other life I do my share of C++ programming., If his utils don’t fit the bill, I’ll probably put something together and make it generally available.

You can download demos to get a feel for the programs.

I suspect you’ll find the Melas utilities will fit your needs.

However, if you decide to do any of your own programming, Motifator member cdw provided some very helpful information concerning file format here:

Yes.., Yes..,.  Just checked out the github stuff.  Perfect!!!!!  And I read on the Melas site that they use QT , when I’m not doing the music thing, I spend enormous amounts of time in C/C++ and QT.  Wow.,

But as I look at the Melas utilities they may be just what I’m looking for.,.,

BTW Thanx!!!
